My name is David Yen, I'm a third year design student at Carnegie Mellon University. I'm interested in visual and interactive design. I like creative coding, drawing pictures, and making things that are fun to use. In practice, that involves interaction design, user experience design, information visualization, and graphic design.

EXPERIENCE

USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN INTERN
Google, Inc., Summer 2010
Worked with UX and Visual Design teams on various Google products, collaborated with engineers and PMs.

INTERACTION DESIGN
General Motors, February-May 2010
Researched and designed scenarios of interaction with future autonomous vehicles in a GM sponsored project with CMU. Created a tablet interface, using contextual inquiries, make tools, and various HCI diagram models.

DESIGNER
Project LISTEN, February-May 2010
Collaborated with CMU research group making software to improve children's literacy and fluency. Explored ways to visualize prosodic data and ultimately proposed an interactive game with data driven parametrics.

DESIGN INTERN
Pollen Design and Prepara, Summer 2009
Designed product packaging, researched existing space for introduction of a new product, worked with manufacturers, ideated on preliminary concepts for new product.
